Iowa travel guide expected to make profit in second year
The Sigwalt group has prepared an Iowa travel guide and are working on ways to market it. The guide was an effort that took almost a year and was funded entirely by the group. Now the plan is to contact all the attractions and to have them market the book at their establishments. It was felt that because the attraction is listed in the book that the proprietors would be much more likely to be willing to give it shelf space. As a marketing gimmick there is a special bookmark included that features the attraction where it was purchased. The bookmark is placed in each copy at the page that shows that attraction so the attraction owners can show off their own individual venue. The cost for each copy is expected to be 8.95 of which the store will get forty five cents and the rest going to the group. It is estimated that to break even on the project there has to be sales in excess of six thousand copies. The first year sales are not expected to be that high, but the cost of updating next years copy will be significantly less so the second year sales will only need to be three fourths of the first year number.
