All else being equal, the blog template counts in SEO
It’s quite important to get a good template for your blog, if you want the search engines to crawl your page better. Now in my case, I’m always on the lookout for a better blog template for my blog but currently I cannot find a good one that is free of charge and to my liking.
Most WordPress templates that are free suck, it’s true. Either that or pay a designer to design one for you in which case, I think I’d rather not pay $300 for a custom template right now, which is what current designers charge at a minimum.
I am fully aware that if you want your blog to rank well in the search engines, getting an SEO optimized blog is part of the whole SEO deal.
But if you can and are willing to fork out $300 - $1000 for a customized theme, then go ahead. Its your call. But know that your SEO really can improve along with your theme, I guarantee that. Just make sure your content is as good as your theme
