Who Do You Trust? How To Succeed Online
One journey into the world wide web…
The internet has opened countless opportunities for people to earn money at home. It has also opened many opportunities for con artists to come into your home. When looking at deals and opportunities on the internet it is important to make sure that you are dealing with reputable people and companies prior to giving out too much personal information.
In the past year I tried to start a business out of my home. I saw so many advertisements on the internet as well as on television about making money from home by being my own boss that I thought this seemed like something I could do. I did a search on general business opportunities. My first search produced a ton of hits. I knew that not all of the business opportunity seekers could possibly be legitimate, but I didn’t know how to begin to sort through such a huge number of sites.
I started tentatively opening a few sites and reading about various opportunities for home-based businesses. Some of the sites were very well done and professional; others looked like they were put together by an illiterate conman. I could not believe that there were sites that were proclaiming to be looking for serious business opportunity seekers and had so many misspelled words and wording that didn’t make sense. I grew frustrated but knew I wouldn’t waste my time submitting personal information into these sites (duh!). I eventually found one site that seemed very legitimate. It included a survey form to fill out regarding what type of home-based business one would have in mind. It requested permission to disclose personal information to several companies to get additional information. The survey asked for the best time to contact me and required a telephone number.
I was initially uncomfortable having my telephone number out on the internet, but I bit the bullet, filled out the survey form and hoped for the best. Happily, I was contacted by four companies that have legitimate businesses on the internet. One in particular offered a great deal of support from other business owners as well as a product that was on the market for several years and was well supported by the company. There were several business opportunity seekers that had already joined the company and I was given their contact information to discuss the business with them. The benefits of joining an ongoing concern outweighed my trepidation. I could go onboard with name recognition, SEO optimization, marketing tools, and tech support already in place. I decided that this would be a good business. It’s been several months now and I have not gotten rich, but I am making enough money to stay at home and still pay bills. It didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen. Do your research, read forums, talk to real people…when you have made your informed decision, stick with it and respect it; it is still a job. As “they” say, do small things consistently to achieve big results. Cheers!
